Where to go for mental health support in Craven
Although Craven is part of North Yorkshire, much of the NHS mental health care for the area is provided by organisations covering Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.
This means you may see Bradford or West Yorkshire mentioned when looking for help, but the support may still be available to you if you live in Craven.
You don't need a referral from your GP to contact many of the options below.
Need urgent mental health help?
If you or someone you care about needs urgent mental health help, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
It's available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for people of all ages. You'll be able to speak to someone who can help you find the right urgent mental health support.

First Response
First Response provides urgent mental health support for people of all ages living in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale or Craven.
It's available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you don't need to have received mental health care before.
Where possible, the person who needs help should call themselves, but First Response can also take calls from family members, friends or others who are worried about someone's wellbeing.

Safe Spaces
Safe Spaces provides same-day support for people experiencing mental health distress.
There are drop-in sessions at different locations across Bradford District and Craven where you can talk confidentially to a trained mental health professional. You don't need an appointment or referral.
If there isn't a drop-in available and you need urgent support, call First Response on 0800 952 1181 and ask about Safe Spaces.

Bradford District and Craven Talking Therapies
Free and confidential NHS support for people aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale or Craven.
It can help with problems including anxiety, low mood, stress and difficulties with sleep. Support can include online courses, guided self-help, group sessions and one-to-one talking therapies.
You can contact Talking Therapies yourself without going through your GP.

Guide-Line provides free and confidential emotional support for children, young people and adults.

Soluna by Kooth
Soluna by Kooth provides free, safe and anonymous online mental health and wellbeing support for 10 to 18-year-olds in Bradford District and Craven.
Young people can access professional support, self-help activities and an online community.
There's no need for a GP referral. Support can be accessed online or through the Soluna app.

BUZZ US
BUZZ US is a confidential text messaging service for young people aged 11 to 18 across North Yorkshire.
Young people can text a wellbeing worker for advice, support and help finding other mental health and wellbeing support.

It's available Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm, and Friday, 9am to 4.30pm, excluding bank holidays. They aim to reply within one working day.

Mighty Minds
Mighty Minds provides one-to-one and group mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people in Craven.
It's available to people aged 5 to 19, or up to 25 for people with additional needs, who live, go to school or are registered with a GP in Craven.
It's provided by SELFA as part of the Youth in Mind partnership.
