Our small team works across North Yorkshire to listen to people’s experiences of health and social care and make sure their voices help shape local services.

We gather feedback from residents, share what people tell us with organisations responsible for services, and highlight where improvements could make a difference.

As the independent champion for people who use health and social care services, Healthwatch North Yorkshire helps ensure local decision makers understand what people experience when accessing care.

Ashley Green

Chief Executive

Ashley leads the Healthwatch North Yorkshire team and oversees the organisation’s work to make sure people’s experiences of health and social care help shape services locally.

Ashley works closely with local NHS organisations, North Yorkshire Council, community and voluntary organisations to make sure the views of residents are heard when decisions about services are being made. This includes raising issues people share with Healthwatch and helping services understand what is working well and where improvements are needed.

Ashley has extensive experience in community development and public services. He is passionate about making sure everyone has a voice in the care they receive and that services reflect the needs of people across North Yorkshire.

Dawn Tesseyman

Volunteer Network Coordinator

Dawn leads Healthwatch North Yorkshire’s volunteer programme, supporting a network of volunteers who help gather people’s experiences of health and care services.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping Healthwatch understand what it is like to access services across a large and rural county. Dawn recruits, trains and supports volunteers so they feel confident speaking to residents, carrying out Enter and view visits to care homes, and attending community events. Enter and View visits are part of Healthwatch’s legal powers to visit health and social care services and speak with residents, patients and staff about their experiences, helping to improve mealtimes, social and physical activities, and how information is shared with residents and families.

Dawn and the volunteer team also attend events and regular contact points at places such as hospitals and libraries, giving people the opportunity to share their experiences of health and social care services or ask for information and support.

Dawn is passionate about the difference volunteers make and works to ensure they feel supported, valued and able to contribute to improving local services.
