Since December 2020 residents within York have been invited by their GP practice to have their vaccination at the Askham Bar site. The new extension to the vaccination centre, which will give vaccinations to people within a 45-minute drive from the site.

The Vaccination Centre will be based at the existing site at Askham Bar and managed by Nimbuscare. Access is via the new Askham Bar Park and Ride.

Please note that this is NOT a drive-through vaccination process.

This Vaccination Centre will serve thousands more priority patient groups from across the region.

Prof Mike Holmes, York GP and Chair of Nimbuscare, is the clinical lead for the NHS Vaccination CentreHe said: “This is excellent news. Establishing York as one of the main NHS Vaccination Centres will speed up the delivery of vaccines to those most at risk. It will create more jobs and put us at the centre of one of the largest and most important vaccination programmes in the history of the NHS.

Now that more doses of Covid-19 are available, the NHS has been able to open more vaccination services and we are proud to be chosen to be the first Vaccination Centres in Yorkshire.

Mike Holmes.

If you have received a letter from the NHS to attend one of the NHS Vaccination Centres, you can book your vaccination online and choose the York Vaccination Centre.

If you already have an appointment booked to have your vaccine at this site or at your local GP service, you can choose to ignore the letter and turn up at your scheduled GP appointment. There is nothing you need to do except turn up at your scheduled appointment
