Important update: PAPYRUS and suicide prevention support

An important update for anyone who has seen PAPYRUS included in our information about mental health support for North Yorkshire’s farming communities.
Two men sit opposite each other at a table having a conversation. One man is speaking while the other, wearing glasses and a blue shirt, listens attentively with his hand resting on his chin. They are sitting in a bright, informal indoor setting with cups on the table and plants in the background.

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide has entered administration and is closing. This means its HopeLine24/7 support service is no longer available.

We have previously included PAPYRUS in information we have shared through our work supporting men’s mental health in North Yorkshire’s farming communities.

We want to make sure anyone who has seen or picked up that information knows about this change – and knows where they can still turn for support.

What has changed?

PAPYRUS has announced that it is closing after almost 30 years of work to prevent young suicide.

HopeLine24/7 is no longer operating.

If you have previously seen PAPYRUS or HopeLine24/7 listed in information from Healthwatch North Yorkshire, please be aware that this information is now out of date.

Our work with farming communities

Our work supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people in North Yorkshire’s farming communities continues.

We are updating the information we provide through the project so that people are directed to support that is currently available.

Some of our printed farming mental health information has already been distributed across North Yorkshire. If you have one of these resources and it mentions PAPYRUS or HopeLine24/7, please be aware that this support is no longer available and use one of the alternatives above.

You do not have to struggle alone. Support is still available.
